Mourinho: “It has not been easy to manage what has happened and what continues to happen”

Jose Mourinho did not go through the press room before the match between Benfica and AVS. The Portuguese coach gave two brief statements to the club’s official television channel, spoke about the aftermath of the match against Real Madrid and anticipated Aursnes’ absence for the league match

“The match was really demanding in every aspect. Until the 50th minute it was a match of maximum effort, both physically and tactically, and the concentration required for a match of that level,” Mourinho said about the physical condition of his players after facing Real Madrid on Tuesday.

“But I must also acknowledge that from the 51st minute until now, and this does not end our conversation, it has not been easy to emotionally manage what happened and what is still happening,” he said of the controversy. “But tomorrow there is an important match, which for our ambitions and dreams is essential to win, and we have to concentrate and try to play at the highest level.”

In purely sporting terms, “Luca is suspended, and I have no problem in anticipating that Aursnes will have to stop, so we have some hope that he can play in Madrid. He is not fit to play tomorrow; we will do something, always bearing in mind that the game is difficult and we have to win”
