More bad news for Josh Allen: Bills QB loses $500,000 after loss to Broncos

Josh Allen‘s eighth season with the Buffalo Bills has ended in heartbreak, again. For seven seasons, the QB has ensured the team made the playoffs, but he has yet to play in a single Super Bowl.

Allen tried to turn things around this season, but they fell to the Denver Broncos in the divisional round on Saturday, 33-30. As if that weren’t enough, he also suffered a second “defeat.”

Allen’s other loss

The game between the Broncos and Bills was exciting, to say the least. With overtime needed to break the tie and decide the winner, an interception by Ja’Quan McMillian set up Denver’s final drive, knocking the Buffalo out of the playoffs.

Allen finished the game against the Broncos completing 25 of 39 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns. In addition, Allen added 66 rushing yards on 12 carries, but had four turnovers: two interceptions and two fumbles, one with 2 seconds left in the half and the other in overtime that ended up in McMillian’s hands.

Thus, Allen and the Bills’ dream of lifting a Vince Lombardi Trophy together for the first time vanished once again. However, the 29-year-old QB suffered a double blow.

The truth is that the loss to the Broncos not only brought with it the pain of playoff elimination, but also meant he had to say goodbye to a bonus linked to his contract worth up to $500,000 if Buffalo had made it to the Super Bowl, according to Spotrac.

The six-year, $330 million contract extension signed by the current MVP includes $250 million guaranteed and incentive escalators, so Allen could have not only won his first ring, but also more money.

Meanwhile, the Bills quarterback closed out a great season in which his name once again resonated as a strong candidate for NFL MVP, but it was overshadowed by this defeat.

In 17 regular-season games, he completed 69.3% of his passes for 3,668 yards, with 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, in addition to rushing 112 times for 579 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.
