Mookie Betts turns to God to get out of his slump because he says he’s tried everything else

Mookie Betts is at the peak of his career, it’s time to get better or better, there is no choice. The Dodgers shortstop is navigating the worst slump of his career after going hitless on several occasions. Dave Roberts, the Los Angeles team’s coach, also ran for it.

Betts is hitting .231 this year with a .657 OPS. In the 14 games, Betts has a batting average of just .148 and an OPS of .411. This is clearly far from his usual output, but the shortstop spoke about not knowing how to get out of this slump, as he has tried every type of training to feel comfortable at the plate.

Mookie Betts: “Right now, it’s up to God”, in relation to his performance in Dodgers

Betts is trying his hardest with the hours he spends in the batting cages before and sometimes after most games. He has made the necessary adjustments, but nothing works. Over the past two months, the hope is that Betts can re-emerge as the familiar superstar Dodgers fans know and love.

“Nothing has worked and the shortstop doesn’t seem to understand why. “I’ve done everything I can,” Betts said. “Right now, it’s up to God.” “I really don’t know what else to do,” he said. “I have no answers,” admitted the Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman, who is between a rock and a hard place.

Dave Roberts has placed Mookie Betts as leadoff

Roberts doesn’t know what’s going on either and noted that Betts and the coaches have been working all along to figure it out. Manager Dave Roberts even put him in as a leadoff hitter to try to get him to focus more on getting on base

“I know he and the hitting coaches have been working diligently, consistently and intentionally. I think the first thing, the easiest thing, is to say it’s a mechanical problem. So I guess that’s where it is. But I also think there’s a mental component that’s wearing him down a little bit,” Roberts said.
