MLB Opening Day 2025 odds: What are the best bets for this season?

Beyond the series in Tokyo between the Cubs and Dodgers, this Thursday formally begins the 2025 MLB season with Opening Day, when the rest of the teams that make up the Major Leagues begin their activity, with a view to reaching the World Series, scheduled for the end of October

In addition, betting enthusiasts are eager to put their money in motion, looking for the best odds to make money and, among the hundreds of possibilities there are to bet tomorrow, these are some of the most attractive, according to DraftKings, from highest to lowest:

  • Dodgers: 103.5
  • Braves: 93.5
  • Phillies: 91.5
  • Mets: 90.5
  • Yankees: 89.5
  • Orioles: 87.5
  • Astros: 87.5
  • Red Sox: 86.5
  • Diamondbacks: 86.5
  • Parents: 85.5
  • Rangers: 85.5
  • Cubs: 85.5
  • Mariners: 84.5
  • Twins: 84.5
  • Tigers: 83.5
  • Royals: 83.5
  • Brewers: 83.5
  • Guardians: 82.5
  • Rays: 81.5
  • Giants: 80.5
  • Reds: 78.5
  • Blue Jays: 78.5
  • Pirates: 77.5
  • Cardinals: 76.5
  • Nationals: 72.5
  • Angels: 71.5
  • Athletics: 71.5
  • Marlins: 63.5
  • Rockies: 58.5
  • White Sox: 53.5

Based on these numbers, the bookmaker has made some risky predictions that, if fulfilled, can generate good dividends:

Mets will not reach 90.5 wins

The National League has a significant amount of talented rosters and this could cause several of them to not have a good season. For example, in the National League East, there are three teams talented enough to win the World Series. Experts point out that the Mets could finish in third place, with less than 90 wins, because they have many injury problems in their rotation, beyond their addition of Juan Soto

While they have a roster full of talent, they may not stabilize until the end of the season, so their win total could be low, closer to 80 than 91 wins

The Red Sox will step up with 86.5 wins

The Red Sox finished 2024 with a record of 81-81 and are expected to improve this season with signings such as Alex Bregman and they hope that Trevor Story can play the whole season. Triston Casas, who missed much of last season, also returns. They also added Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler (who had a poor regular season last year, but shone in the playoffs) and got back Lucas Giolito

With this outlook, the Red Sox could win around 88 games, in a position to earn a wild-card spot, at least

Yankees will not achieve 89.5 wins

The Yankees had a disastrous offseason: Gerrit Cole is already out for the season. Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt are injured. Giancarlo Stanton’s season is already at risk and these are very important pieces that they cannot count on full time

However, their roster includes the likes of Max Fried, Cody Bellinger and Jazz Chisholm Jr., as well as Aaron Judge as their offensive linchpin

With so many problems, the Yankees could be satisfied if they get a wild card spot, although they may not even get that

White Sox for a tough season with just 53.5 wins

The White Sox are shaping up to be the team to lose the most games this season. According to experts, they could aspire to surpass 53.5 games, 12 more than in 2024. While it is an improvement, it would not be enough to talk about anything interesting with this team, due to the large number of games they are capable of losing

However, there are many statistics that point to the fact that they are not actually as bad a team as their 2024 record suggests. The issue is that they keep losing games.

The Royals will win more than 83.5 games

Kansas City won 86 games last year and while it is difficult for ace Seth Lugo to repeat what he did last season, where he finished second in the Cy Young Award voting, at 34 years of age, the front office has looked everywhere to improve its roster through trades and in recent years has managed to close very good deals

Their roster includes players such as Bobby Witt Jr., a strong candidate to win the MVP, and Cole Ragans, also among the favorites to win the Cy Young.

Twins will not reach 84.5 wins

While many experts estimate that the Twins will win the American League Central Division, their talent-laden roster is also prone to injury. In fact, they have already started with Royce Lewis.

In addition, the teams in this division look very evenly matched and therefore four of them could fight to win it, but probably with less than 90 wins

Rangers will surpass 85.5 wins

In the case of the Rangers, they are expected to take a step forward after winning the 2023 World Series, when they had one of the best offenses in MLB. Last year they fell apart but they are still a talented team, which has also incorporated new bats such as Joc Pederson and Jake Burger.

Other young players such as Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter, as well as veterans such as Marcus Semien, are also expected to step up, after having his worst full offensive season since 2018. Their rotation will also welcome back two important arms: Jacob deGrom and Tyler Mahle, who underwent Tommy John surgery. They are joined by Cody Bradford, an attractive prospect

With these circumstances and the rebuilding the Astros are undergoing, the Rangers could win their division, the American League West, and will at least surpass 85.5.
