The 2025 Major League Baseball season is entering its final stretch with the Championship Series, one of the most eagerly awaited phases for baseball fans. Only four teams remain in the running to reach the ultimate goal: the World Series. This stage pits the two best teams from each league – American and National – who have already overcome the Wild Card and Divisional Series rounds.
What is the format of the Championship Series?
The format remains unchanged: the MLB Championship Series is a best-of-seven series. That is, the first team to win four games will advance to the World Series.
The team with the best record during the regular season gets home-court advantage, meaning they will play the first two games and the possible sixth and seventh games at home. The distribution of the games follows the traditional 2-3-2 scheme, which seeks to balance the conditions for both clubs.
In the event of rain or inclement weather, MLB may adjust the schedule or reschedule games, but will always ensure a one-day rest between the fifth and sixth games if the series is extended.
The fight for the title in the League
On one side are the Toronto Blue Jays, who eliminated the favored New York Yankees by an aggregate score of 3-1 and will now face the Seattle Mariners, who have had a formidable season and left the Detroit Tigers in their wake in a 3-2 divisional series.
On the other side of the bracket, the Los Angeles Dodgers, a star-studded team including Shohei Ohtani, Roki Sasaki, Tyler Glasnow and others, defeated the Philadelphia Phillies and will now face the Milwaukee Brewers, who eliminated the Chicago Cubs to stay in the hunt for the World Series.
Road to the 2025 World Series
Every pitch and every at-bat counts more than ever. The Championship Series not only define the finalists, but also offer some of the most intense moments of the entire season. With the best-of-seven format, managers’ strategies and roster depth will be key.
The prize is clear: a direct ticket to the 2025 World Series, the stage where only the best survive.
