MLB All-Star Game MVP: Full list of winners, trophy and prize

Welcome to the offseason, welcome to the All-Star Game. The idea that was born in the 1930s will once again raise the curtain todayTuesday, July 15. It’s just another exhibition game, but it’s full of color

That’s why it’s always interesting to take a look at the players who have won the MVP of the game. Although this is of little use when considering an entry into the Hall of Fame, it is a garland that looks good on a big leaguer’s dress suit

It should be noted that there was not always a Hispanic presence in the event. Venezuelan Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel was the first to participate in 1951. It was his first of four

History of the name of the trophy and its current form?

The trophy was originally named the Archie Ward Memorial Award, in honor of the creator of the classic. In the 1970s it was renamed the Commissioner’s Trophy, but returned to its original name in 1984, when it became the name of the World Series winner

At the beginning of 2002, Ted Williams died, considered the best left-handed hitter in history. Say no more. Now, this is the name of the award

The physical award was initially a conventional trophy. In the late 1990s, it was transformed into a smaller glass trophy. Now, the winner of the All-Star Game MVP receives a glass bat engraved with their name.

Each player has in his contract how much he earns for each distinction he gets at the time. The players on the winning team share a pot of $640,000. That’s fixed.

There is also a four-wheeled vehicle for the winner. Chevrolet has always been a sponsor of the event and the winner will take home a model of their choice

Who chooses the MVP? And the award winners.

It’s a hybrid. As it is a game for the fans, from the seventh inning onwards, online voting is open, but this only accounts for 20 percent of the total. The other 80 percent comes from members of the BBWAA, as well as members of the TV broadcast staff.

It should be noted that in 1962 two All-Star Games were held in the same year, one in the National League and the other in the American League. That’s why Maury Wills and Leon Wagner share the distinction in the same year. From 1963 onwards, one was awarded per game
