Mixed feelings about what’s happening to Dillon Gabriel; the Cleveland Browns defeat the Miami Dolphins

Believe it or not, the Cleveland Browns picked up their second win of the season with a dominant 31-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins, led by an outstanding performance from rookie running back Quinshon Judkins, who scored three touchdowns and has quickly become a fan favorite. This game also marked Dillon Gabriel’s first win as an NFL starting quarterback.

Beyond Judkins’ stellar outing, the Cleveland Browns’ defense stole the spotlight after intercepting Tua Tagovailoa three times, including a pick-six by cornerback Tyson Campbell, which sealed the victory for Kevin Stefanski’s team. The Dolphins barely surpassed 100 passing yards and failed to score a single touchdown.

As for rookie Dillon Gabriel, his performance continues to draw mixed reviews, though the rainy weather forced the Browns to alter their game plan. The former Oregon Ducks quarterback completed 13 of 18 passes for 116 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Still, he can now claim his first NFL win.

Donovan McNabb feels bad about the pressure on Dillon Gabriel

Now the Browns’ starting quarterback, Dillon Gabriel was selected in the third round of the latest NFL Draft. Before the season began, he earned the backup spot behind Joe Flacco and ahead of Shedeur Sanders. However, after four weeks, he was promoted to the starting role and has now made three starts in the NFL.

So far, he holds a 1-2 record. His performance hasn’t been terrible, but it hasn’t been great either. Even so, the pressure on Gabriel has been intense. Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb commented on the situation, saying: “I feel bad for Dillon Gabriel. It’s funny how people are praying for his downfall just to get Shedeur in.”

The truth is that Dillon Gabriel has received opportunities that Shedeur Sanders hasn’t with the Cleveland Browns. Since training camp, Gabriel has consistently been ahead of Shedeur on the depth chart. Despite throwing two touchdown passes in his debut against the Vikings, he hasn’t thrown another one since.

This week, the Cleveland Browns were favorites against the Miami Dolphins, but next week will be a big test for Dillon Gabriel, as they visit Drake Maye’s New England Patriots, who have been on fire. The pressure on Gabriel isn’t going away, especially as fans continue to call for Shedeur Sanders to get his chance.
