“Miss you on the court”: Indiana Fever star shares heartfelt message for teammate Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark has now missed more than three games due to a groin injury that initially sidelined her a month ago and recently flared up with greater intensity. The setback also kept the Indiana Fever star out of the WNBA All-Star Game, held Saturday, July 19, at the team’s home arena.

Without Clark’s presence on the floor, the Fever have struggled to maintain momentum, posting a 13 record during her absence. Her teammates and coaching staff have openly expressed how much they miss her leadership and production, underscoring the void left by her absence.

On Sunday, July 27, the Fever will face the Chicago Sky at 3:00 p.m., a matchup that will feature standout players Tyler Marsh and Angel Reese for Chicago. The Sky aim to exploit the advantage of facing Indiana without its brightest star.

Natasha Howard’s emotional message for Clark

Clark’s time away has affected not only the team’s performance but also the emotional state of her teammates. Natasha Howard, in particular, shared a touching sentiment on social media. Posting a video from the Commissioner’s Cup, Howard captioned it with a message that highlighted both the camaraderie within the team and the personal impact of Clark’s absence.

Miss you on the court.

Howard wrote.

Howard’s return to Indiana has been a significant boost for the franchise. After debuting in the WNBA in 2014 with the Fever and playing one season there, she rejoined the team for the 2025 campaign, bringing veteran presence and defensive tenacity.

Throughout her career, Howard has played for the New York Liberty, Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm and Dallas Wings before returning to Indiana. This season, she is averaging 12 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. Alongside Aliyah Boston, Howard has formed a formidable defensive pairing that anchors the Fever’s interior.

For Clark, this season has been far from ideal. Now in her second year in the league, injuries have limited her to just 13 games. Despite the setbacks, she is averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists per contest, reaffirming her status as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the WNBA when healthy.

Fever’s current outlook

As they prepare to take on Chicago, Indiana sits in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 13-12 record.

  • Sunday, July 27 against the Chicago Sky. They’re away.
  • Wednesday, July 30 against the Phoenix Mercury at home.
  • Friday, August 1 against the Dallas Wings on the road.
  • Sunday, August 3 against the Seattle Storm on the road.
  • Tuesday, August 5 against the Los Angeles Spark on the road.

Sunday’s contest will be another test for the Fever, who are determined to stay competitive and secure a playoff spot – even as they await Clark’s muchanticipated return to the court.
