Kyle Kuzma, the Milwaukee Bucks forward known for his bold fashion choices and outspoken social media presence, found himself at the center of an unexpected moment during the 2025 US Open men’s final.

Amidst the high-stakes match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, Kuzma – who was watching from Arthur Ashe Stadium – shared a brief clip on Instagram capturing a personal interaction with the 45th and 47th president Donald Trump.

In the video, Trump, seated in his suite inside the arena, gives Kuzma a thumbs-up and smiles. Kuzma captioned the post with six crying-laughing emojis, suggesting a playful acknowledgment of the encounter.

This lighthearted moment, however, was overshadowed by the larger controversy surrounding Trump’s attendance at the event.

Trump’s controversial presence at the US Open

Trump’s appearance at the US Open marked his first since 2015 and quickly became one of the most disruptive storylines of the tournament.

His arrival prompted a nearly 30-minute delay to the men’s final due to increased security measures. Once inside, the atmosphere remained tense. When Trump’s face appeared on the jumbotron during the national anthem, loud boos erupted from the crowd, nearly drowning out the singer’s voice.

The mixed reactions continued throughout the match. Trump was shown on the big screen multiple times, each appearance met with a combination of jeers and sporadic cheers.

At one point, he and his entourage left midway through the match while Alcaraz led 3-0 in the third set, only to return later.

Despite the controversy, Kuzma’s brief interaction with Trump went largely unnoticed.

The NBA star’s personal moment, juxtaposed against the backdrop of a politically charged atmosphere, highlighted the complexities of public figures navigating their personal and professional lives in today’s media landscape.

A growing profile

Kyle Kuzma, a versatile forward for the Milwaukee Bucks, has become well-known not only for his on-court skills but also for his social media presence and bold fashion choices.

Rising to prominence with the Los Angeles Lakers and later helping the Bucks contend for a championship, Kuzma’s high profile and outspoken personality likely caught the attention of figures like Trump, making their brief interaction at the US Open all the more notable.

His visit to New York came just days after he was mobbed by fans on his visit to the Far East, which holds NBA in high regard. But his exchange with Trump shows that his profile is growing bigger by the day.

It also serves to show that Kuzma’s ability to maintain a sense of humor and authenticity speaks to his character. As he continues to evolve both on and off the court, moments like these offer a glimpse into the multifaceted nature of modern celebrity.
