Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo led the national team to the EuroBasket semifinals, where Turkey ultimately defeated them. In the process, he had a thrilling showdown against his rival Alperen Sengun in a matchup that lived up to NBA standards. Despite the loss, Giannis showcased why he remains one of the world’s top basketball talents.

After the match, Sengun made some remarks that raised eyebrows regarding the Greek superstar. The former Houston Rockets player, while offering a degree of praise for the Milwaukee Bucks star, also delivered pointed comments that sparked a heated debate. The exchange quickly became a major talking point among fans and analysts alike.

Milwaukee Bucks respond to Alperen Sengun’s comments

It was a tough night for Greece as they were outplayed by Turkey, falling 68-94 in the EuroBasket semifinal. With the victory, Alperen Sengun’s team secured their ticket to the final. After the game, Sengun spoke to the media about how Turkey managed to contain Giannis Antetokounmpo throughout the matchup.

The former Houston Rockets star acknowledged Giannis as one of the best players in the world, praising his dominance on the court. However, Sengun also left room for criticism, pointing out that Antetokounmpo is “not really a good passer.”

Those words stuck with the Bucks superstar, who was determined to prove he is a complete player ready for any challenge. In the third-place game, Giannis responded with an explosive performance, posting 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in just three minutes, an insane stat line that silenced doubts.

The Milwaukee Bucks also jumped to their star’s defense with a short but pointed post on X. “Giannis is a great passer,” the team wrote, sharing a video that highlighted Antetokounmpo’s best assists and playmaking moments.

EuroBasket: relief for Greece, heartbreak for Turkey

Greece secured third place in the EuroBasket after Giannis Antetokounmpo led his team to a hard-fought 92-89 victory over Finland, capping off a strong tournament for the Greek national side. The Bucks superstar once again proved decisive, showcasing his dominance on both ends of the court.

On the other side, the Turkish national team fell short of glory, as Alperen Sengun and his squad were defeated in the final by Germany. It was a hard-fought, intense matchup, but in the end, the Germans prevailed with a narrow 88-83 victory, reclaiming a EuroBasket title they had not lifted since 1993.

For now, stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Alperen Sengun are turning their focus to the next challenge, the upcoming NBA season. Both will soon return to U.S. soil to join their respective training camps, with Antetokounmpo reuniting with the Milwaukee Bucks and Sengun preparing to lead the Houston Rockets.
