Mike Tyson’s great fear was Muhammad Ali: “He was like a tyrannosaurus rex with a beautiful face”

Mike Tyson’s legacy in boxing is not erased despite the painful exhibition he gave in his last fight against Jake Paul, after coming out of retirement at the age of 58, and his opinions on pugilism always attract attention, especially when it comes to talking about the greatest legend of his sport,Muhammad Ali, whom he did not hesitate to pay tribute to.

Iron Mike acknowledged in an interview that Muhammad Ali would have beaten him if they had met in the ring, as “there is no one like him”, he even compared him to the ferocity of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, but qualified that only with a face that had nothing to do with how he was when he got into the ring

“There’s nobody like him, nobody. Everything we have, he replaced us,” Tyson said of Ali to ThisIs50, adding: “He’s an animal, he looks more like a model than a boxer. He’s like a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a beautiful face, he’s mean and vicious, he’ll take you into deep water and drown you. He’s very special, the best. Nobody can beat Ali, I can’t beat that guy, no way. Impossible.”

Mike Tyson’s idolatry of Muhammad Ali

Mike Tyson is considered one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time, as well as being among the most spectacular when it comes to sending his rivals to the canvas, but even Iron Mike has surrendered to Muhammad Ali, who was a real spectacle in the ring.

What is beyond doubt is that both are among the best in the sport, although Ali has memorable victories against several boxing legends: Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Sonny Liston.Mike Tyson began his career in 1985 with a devastating start by knocking out his first 19 fights, and by November 1986 he had already become the WBC heavyweight world champion, after taking the belt from Trevor Berbick.
