The fight that everyone has been waiting for is just a few days away. Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, two fighters from vastly different backgrounds and age groups, will touch gloves at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in what is being dubbed the “fight of the century” in boxing.
As can be expected, many predictions have been lodged about the fight’s outcome and eventual winner. Over the span of eight two-minute rounds, the 58-year-old Tyson will seek to confirm his legacy as a generation-spanning champion, while the 27-year-old Paul will make a statement if he topples a former heavyweight champ previously known under the moniker of “The Baddest Man on the Planet“.
The AI-predicted outcome that no one wants to see
The increasing use of generative artificial intelligence in everyday life has drawn scrutiny and controversy over its ethical and environmental impacts. But in a narrow sense — and with a narrow scope — social media users have found AI useful to predict the Netflix-sponsored Tyson-Paul bout.
An AI service has revealed that there are three possible outcomes to the Nov. 15 bout. Tyson can win the fight early with a clean punch, Paul can outlast Tyson over eight rounds and win by decision, or — in a nightmare scenario — an injury to one of the combatants could end the fight.
Given the significant age gap between Paul and Tyson — and the fact that a medical emergency in May led Tyson to postpone the fight — a serious injury cannot be ruled out completely. This would be a major black eye for distributor Netflix, as well as the scores of boxing fans around the world who have been patiently (but eagerly) waiting for this fight.
However, with both fighters set to rake in around $20 million for their participation, any potential knockout blow can be softened with the promise of financial prosperity. Either way, in only three days’ time, the world will find out if Tyson has still got “it”, or if Paul will usher in a new era in boxing.
