Mike Tyson reveals his diet strategy now that he’s back at 59

Even decades after first becoming the youngest heavyweight champion at the age of 20, Mike Tyson continues to impress fans with his athleticism.

Now at 59 years old, questions about how the former boxing legend maintains such impressive fitness have resurfaced, especially with rumors swirling that he might take on Floyd Mayweather next year.

Tyson’s secret lies not just in training but also in the disciplined diet he has adhered to throughout his career.

In his prime, Tyson followed a highly structured routine, balancing intense workouts with carefully chosen foods.

That discipline allowed him to dominate the ring with his knockout power. Remarkably, this commitment carried him through to 58, when he faced 27-year-old Jake Paul in a professional boxing match, showcasing that even in his late 50s, he could stay in impressive shape.

Tyson recently revealed more about his current diet in an interview with the Hard Rock coffee and restaurant chain. During a segment called “Bite or Fight,” he was asked to indicate which foods he eats regularly (“bite”) and which he avoids (“fight”).

When presented with crab legs and oysters, Tyson enthusiastically said, “Bite.” When asked about Oreos, he admitted, “On certain occasions. I would never eat it every day. I may eat it once, and then I may not eat it for another six months.”

This exchange highlights that Tyson maintains a mostly clean, high-protein diet, though he allows himself the occasional indulgence. However, not all snacks make the cut. He openly rejected Cheetos, tofu burgers, and Gushers, showing his clear preference for wholesome, nutritious foods. Surprisingly, he also turned down a kale smoothie, quipping, “Killer kale, I’m not a kale smoothie guy. No.”

A lifetime of discipline shapes Tyson’s eating habits

A lesser-known fact about Tyson is that he has never consumed coffee. In a 2019 interview on The Joe Rogan Experience (#1227), Rogan expressed disbelief that the former champion had never tried it.

Tyson replied, “Never had a coffee, no! Just tea, never coffee.” Despite this, he later opened a coffee shop, Tyson 2.0, demonstrating that personal experience doesn’t always limit entrepreneurial ventures.

The combination of high-protein meals, moderate carbohydrates, and limited cheat days seems to be the backbone of Tyson‘s longevity in fitness.

Even as he approaches 60, he continues to stay active and strong, proving that decades of disciplined eating and training can sustain an athlete well into later life.

Whether preparing for rumored bouts or simply maintaining health, Tyson‘s dietary choices offer an inspiring lesson in balance, discipline, and consistency.
