Last Saturday, Mike Tyson surprised his Instagram followers with a personal invitation to a very special event: Dionne Warwick’s concert on June 27 at New York’s iconic Apollo Theater. The performance marks a major milestone in Warwick’s career as she celebrates 60 years in music.

“Hi everyone, this is Mike Tyson. June 27. Dionne Warwick at the Apollo Theater. Sixty years of performing. Don’t miss it,” the former heavyweight champion said in a video. In the caption, he added: “Be part of a legendary night with the one and only @therealdionnew. I’ll be there, so you better be too! Get your tickets now!”

Tyson, a longtime fan of Warwick, has stirred excitement across social media and U.S. cultural outlets. The concert is shaping up to be a highlight of this year’s Black Music Month celebrations.

A historic night with Dionne Warwick

Pop and soul music icon Dionne Warwick will take the stage at the legendary Apollo Theater in the heart of Harlem, joined by her sons Damon and David Elliott, who will perform with her for the first time at this venue.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature a live performance with her band. Warwick is set to perform a selection of her greatest hits, including “Walk on by,” “I say a little prayer,” and “Do you know the way to San Jose?”

The concert is part of her Don’t make me over tour-a celebration of her rich musical legacy and a rare chance to relive the classics that defined generations. The last time Tyson and Warwick shared a stage was in 1989 during a televised tribute to Sammy Davis Jr., adding a nostalgic note to this reunion.

Dionne Warwick’s legacy continues to inspire

With six Grammy Awards, over 50 Billboard hits, and a six-decade career, Dionne Warwick remains one of the most influential artists in music history. In 2023, Billboard named her one of the top 100 artists of all time.

In a recent interview, Warwick reflected on her cultural impact. When asked if she realized she was breaking barriers in the 1960s, she replied, “I had no idea.” Speaking about her influence on artists like Beyoncé and Lizzo, she said, “It’s wonderful that they acknowledge a door was opened for me, and that’s what allowed them to do what they’re doing today.”

Tickets now available for an unforgettable night

The June 27 concert not only honors Warwick’s enduring legacy, but also celebrates the richness of African American music in a historic venue like the Apollo. With Mike Tyson lending his support, the evening promises to be an unmissable event in New York City.

Tickets are already on sale. If you’re a lover of timeless music, this is your chance to witness a living legend live on stage.
