Mike McDaniel could leave the Dolphins and land with a team full of problems

The Miami Dolphins endured a 2025 season filled with complications. It began with their quarterback, Tua Tugavaiola, who delivered a disappointing performance and was benched, allowing Quin Ewers to step in as his replacement. The constant changes under center reflected a broader instability that affected the team’s rhythm, confidence, and ability to compete consistently every week throughout the demanding NFL calendar.

With such unexpected results, speculation began early that head coach Mike McDaniel could leave the team, even before the season reached its conclusion. However, after the roster stabilized and some balance was restored, the situation calmed down. Now it appears that McDaniel could either remain with the franchise or depart once the year officially comes to an end, depending on how discussions unfold.

Now, with just one week remaining in the 2025 season, speculation has emerged suggesting that a potential trade involving Cleveland and Miami could take place, centered on the head coach.

Mike McDaniel could become the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns

According to information reported by ESPN Cleveland, a deal between the Cleveland and Miami franchises involving the coach could materialize. McDaniel could arrive to lead the Browns if both sides manage to reach an agreement that satisfies their respective interests and long-term visions.

It has also been repeatedly stated that this could be Kevin Stefanski’s final season in Cleveland. Despite enjoying strong years with the team, particularly early in his tenure, patience within the organization now appears to be running out as results have failed to improve.

The front office placed full trust in Stefanski, yet the past few seasons have been disastrous for a franchise that has been unable to regain competitiveness or find sustained success.

Cleveland’s biggest problem, the quarterbacks

For several years, the Cleveland Browns have struggled at the most critical offensive position, quarterback. They simply have not been able to identify the right player to solidify the role and provide stability.

From 2020 to the present, meaning in just five years, the number of passers who have gone through the Browns is almost unbelievable. Of all of them, perhaps only Baker Mayfield delivered the most consistent level of performance.

  • Baker Mayfield (2020-2021)
  • Case Keenum (2021)
  • Nick Mullens (2021)
  • Jacoby Brissett (2022)
  • Deshaun Watson (2022-2024)
  • Joe Flacco (2023)
  • Dorian Thompson-Robinson (2023-2024)
  • P.J. Walker (2023)
  • Jeff Driskel (2023)
  • Jameis Winston (2024)
  • Bailey Zappe (2024)

With such instability, it is nearly impossible for a team to aspire to a successful season. The organization must begin a serious self-examination from the front office downward to correct the persistent mistakes that have defined recent years.

Only then might they escape the mediocrity in which they have remained trapped for far too long.
