The Dallas Cowboys are in the process of preparing their roster for the upcoming season and after it was announced a few days ago that Joe Milton would be joining to compete with Dak Prescott as quarterback, legendary wide receiver Michael Irvin issued a warning about what could happen.
For the former Cowboys receiver, in an opinion on his YouTube channel, if Prescott does not get his act together and adopt the prominence that is expected of him in the 2025 season, he could lose the position of quarterback to Milton, despite the huge salary difference.
“Don’t give this guy a chance, Dak… You better stay healthy, be ready, stay on the field. Remember, you make $60 million a year. This guy only makes $1 million. If you give him a chance on the field, it’s going to get ugly,” Irvin said on his YouTube channel.
Joe Milton is a Cowboys fan
Joe Milton had few opportunities in his time with the New England Patriots against starter Drake Maye and backup Jacoby Brissett, so despite the fact that there were many teams interested in his services, even with a better offer than the Cowboys, the Pats let him go to Dallas because he has declared himself a fan of the ‘Lone Star’.
According to FOX’s Jordan Schultz, the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers wanted Milton, who will now first have to compete with Will Grier to be the Cowboys‘ backup quarterback, to be ready and waiting for any hesitation from Dak Prescott to snatch the position away from him.
Milton’s departure from the Patriots was imminent after the signing of Joshua Dobbs, and it came thanks to a trade with the Cowboys along with a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick.
