DeMarcus Lawrence chose to part ways with his lifelong team, and decided to sign a three-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks on the first day of NFL free agency, leaving behind an 11-season history with the Dallas Cowboys.
A day after arriving at the Seahawks, the 32-year-old defensive end caused a stir when he told a local blogger that he was moving to Seattle because he knew he was never going to win a Super Bowl in Dallas.
That statement sparked a debate between Lawrence and Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons, who did not hesitate to call his former teammate a “clown”, to which Lawrence replied: “Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left”.

The former Cowboys receiver, Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl winner with Dallas, Michael Irvin, had no hesitation in siding with the two players.
“I lean toward Micah Parsons,” Irvin explained on FS1’s Speak on Monday. “First of all, D-Lawrence, and I love D-Law, good man, played very well for Dallas for a long time. But you have to self-incriminate, since you were there.
You can’t just say, ‘I’m not going to win a Super Bowl in Dallas,’ like you’re not on the field. You were the reason they didn’t win. You are directly part of the reason why they didn’t win a Super Bowl in Dallas.
“Dallas had the best offense some of those years, the problem was that defense. That’s what I call the ‘Oprah Winfrey defense’. Everybody runs for 200 yards. 200 yards! Everybody runs 200!’. That was what Lawrence was part of, so yes, I blame D. Law. I gave the responsibility to him.”
In addition to winning three NFL championships with the Cowboys, including the most recent in January 1996 when they won Super Bowl XXX, Irvin was a three-time All-Pro wide receiver during his 12-year career
And if anyone knows what it takes to bring a Lombardi Trophy back to Dallas, it’s him.
