Michael Conforto breaks his silence after being denigrated by Dave Roberts at key moment in season

For much of the 2025 regular season, Michael Conforto was an immovable piece in left field for Dave Roberts, however, when it came to the most decisive phase of the playoffs, the Los Angeles Dodgers manager opted to start veteran Kike Hernandez, one of the fans’ favorite players and a proven player in decisive situations. This decision was celebrated by some fans who saw Conforto in decline after an inconsistent start to the campaign.

But the player did not remain silent and recently in an interview with Mike Puma of the New York Post, Conforto broke his silence on his feelings about Dave Roberts’ decisions:

Definitely, not being on the roster motivates me. I have some things to work on this preseason and we’ll see what happens

The left fielder also commented that he tries to enjoy the experience of being in the playoffs despite being sidelined at the most crucial time of the year for the Dodgers.

Michael Conforto’s rollercoaster season with the Dodgers in 2025

Michael Conforto’s season was not linear, the player himself admitted to having difficult moments, but he also highlighted his way of adapting and improving in the final stretch of the calendar:

I had a lot of tough moments, but being on a team of this caliber forced me to readjust my role. Toward the end of the season I started to do more of what I needed to do

In addition to expressing his feelings, the former San Francisco Giants player praised the structure of the Los Angeles Dodgers team:

Seeing how this team celebrates victories, their cohesion, their analysis, their star power… it’s really eye-opening

Even so, everything points to the fact that Michael Conforto’s time in Los Angeles was brief and that he will not return for the next season in 2026, especially because of his high salary that he receives without being decisive in Roberts’ team.

What does the future hold for Michael Conforto after his playoff exit with the Dodgers?

Conforto will be a free agent in the coming months and although he is unlikely to sign another contract close to the $20 million a year he had with the Dodgers, his experience and late-season rebound could keep him active in MLB.

The left fielder made it clear that he will use his experience as fuel for what is to come: “I have things to address during the season,” he said. For him, it has not been a bitter farewell, he sees it more as a high-level lesson in one of the most demanding teams in Major League Baseball.

For now, the Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing to face the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, which begins this Friday, October 24 at Rogers Centre at 8:00 pm (ET), where Dave Roberts’ team will be looking for its second consecutive title.
