Micah Parsons may have left Cowboys but a common issue from his time in Dallas emerges with Packers

When the Green Bay Packers pulled off a stunning trade for Micah Parsons, the general consensus was that the Dallas Cowboys made a grave mistake. Jerry Jones decided to trade away his best defensive player and a borderline generational talent, further weakening what was already a bad defensive unit.

Through six weeks this season, the Cowboys defense has been as bad as everyone imagined it would be without Parsons. But on Green Bay’s side, Parsons hasn’t had the productive impact many expected so far. Parsons is playing at an extremely high level and is grading out as arguably the best EDGE player in the league, but his stats aren’t showing it: he has only 2.5 sacks through five games. Those stats don’t tell the full story, though.

Micah Parsons is sick and tired of offensive linemen getting away with holding penalties

Parsons’ consistent pressure is helping lead to sacks for other Packers pass-rushers like Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt and others. But there’s another aspect that is being talked about more and more as the weeks pass by: Parsons is getting held frequently by offensive linemen and it’s not getting called.

Parsons finally broke his silence on the matter and took aim at the NFL and it’s referees for doing a poor job officiating fairly on both sides of the ball.

Clips of Parsons being mugged by blockers have made the rounds on social media. It’s something we saw during his time with the Cowboys, too. Parsons just wants offensive and defensive players to get a balanced look from refs, but that doesn’t seem to be happening.

It’s been a trend over the last decade or so that rules changes have been put in place in order to provide more scoring opportunities for offenses. The NFL believes more points will lead to more viewers. That may be the case, but Parsons is one of the players who suffers because of that.
