The star linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, Micah Parsons, is looking for a lucrative contract extension with the franchise. According to multiple reports, the former Penn State player hopes to match or surpass the deal signed by Myles Garrett, who secured a $40 million annual contract with the Cleveland Browns.
Parsons is entering the final season of his rookie contract, and so far, the Dallas Cowboys have not been able to reach an extension agreement with their defensive star. In the meantime, he is enjoying another sport.
Micah Parsons’ passion outside of football
During this offseason, Micah Parsons has been indulging in pickleball. The Cowboys player has expressed that this sport has become his new obsession.
Interestingly, the Dallas defensive star has invested in the professional team Texas Ranchers from Major League Pickleball. Parsons has been using this sport as a way to improve his NFL performance, believing that practicing different sports in the offseason can enhance his game.
Pickleball is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played on a court similar to a badminton court (but with a lower net, like in tennis) using a solid paddle and a perforated plastic ball.
Micah Parsons’ big goal
A few days ago, Calvin Watkins of Dallas Morning News reported that Parsons aims to become the first defensive player in history to secure a $200 million contract.
“As the Cowboys progress through the offseason, it is expected that pass rusher Micah Parsons will request a $200 million contract extension, which would set a record for a non-quarterback player,” Watkins wrote. “The request aligns with making him one of the highest-paid players at his position.”
If he succeeds, Parsons would become the highest-paid non-quarterback player in NFL history.
