Micah Parsons has already sent a warning and is beginning to have issues with Jerry Jones; things could get ugly for the Dallas Cowboys

Most of the NFL storylines we’ve followed in recent months have come to an end: Brock Purdy signed his new contract with the 49ers, Aaron Rodgers will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Shedeur Sanders is competing with the Cleveland Browns. However, one saga seems far from over – the case of Micah Parsons.

Parsons is entering the final year of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys, and although he will earn $24 million this year, he has no long-term security. On top of that, he might be the best defensive player in the NFL and is looking to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.

Currently, the player with the highest contract who isn’t a quarterback is Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who will earn $40.25 million per year. Parsons is hoping to surpass that deal and make NFL history.

Micah Parsons showed up at the Dallas Cowboys’ minicamp

At the start of the Dallas Cowboys’ mandatory minicamp, Micah Parsons was present despite not having signed a new deal. In fact, there’s speculation that there haven’t even been any conversations recently between the team’s front office and Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta.

Parsons was present but did not participate in practice. According to reports, the defensive star spent 30 minutes talking to team owner Jerry Jones, but the two-time All-Pro said they didn’t talk about his contract.

Micah Parsons hopes to have his new deal signed before the Cowboys head to Oxnard, California, for training camp.

“I’m pretty hopeful,” said Parsons, via Tommy Yarrish of the team website. “I’m still being patient. I understand it’s up to [Jones], and he’s the one who gives the green light for everything, so hopefully something gets done by next month.”

The final word will have to come from team owner Jerry Jones, and Micah Parsons knows it. He also emphasized that even if he doesn’t sign the extension, he will attend training camp.

“He gives the green light,” Parsons said of Jones. “He’s the owner. Pretty much nothing happens around here unless he approves it, so it’s up to him. But like I said, I’m going to keep playing football. I’ll keep showing up and preparing like every other year.”

Parsons’ decision to attend camp speaks well of him and the leadership role he wants to take on with the Dallas Cowboys. It’s worth noting that last year, CeeDee Lamb skipped training camp and didn’t show up until 12 days before the season opener – when he finally signed his extension.
