Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys are going through one of the most interesting crontroversies in NFL training camp, and the drama doesn’t seem to end.

The All-Pro rusher is going into the final season of his five-year rookie contract after being drafted 12th overall in 2021, but he could be placed under the franchise tag next season without a new deal in place.

Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner who’s known for his flamboyant personality, added fuel to the fire when he publicly stated that signing Parsons didn’t really meant that they were gonna count with the defensive stud on the field, citing what happened when he signed quarterback Dak Prescott to a massive contract. Prescott went on to miss most of the season with an injury.

Micah fights another NFL player amidst contract drama

Micah Parsons and Derwin James, strong safety from the Los Angeles Chargers, got into a wrestling match on the field. As part of training camp, both football players, who have become good friends over the years, decided to show their wrestling skills and fans absolutely loved the interaction.

During an interview after the wrestling exhibition, Parsons told a journalist that he beat James, citing the fact that he used to wrestle when he was younger. Micah did not wrestle in high school but he was a standout youth and middle school wrestler before transitioning to football.

He even tried to convince Penn State – where Micah played college football – coach Cael Sanderson to let him on the team to play both sports while in college. Nonetheless, Parsons uses wrestling training to prepare for the regular season.

CeeDe Lamb and George Pickens shine

While Micah Parsons‘ contract talks with the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones have intensified, risking team cohesion with just over a month from games starting, some offensive players have stepped up and shine at training camp.

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is back on the practice field in Oxnard since 2023 and he finds his way into the highlight reels again. The former Oklahoma Sooners standout has made a habit of exciting grabs and jaw-dropping athleticism in practices since his rookie season in 2020, but this year feels like the start of something special.

And newcomer wideout George Pickens has turned in three impressive practices so far. Whether it’s his knowledge of the offense, his ability to block in the run game, or his incredible hands and athleticism in the passing game, Pickens has been the star of camp so far.
