Miami Dolphins Stephen Ross takes shot at his own NFL team while praising himself for F1 success

There’s no getting around it: The Miami Dolphins are set to be arguably the worst team in the NFL in 2026. The team has basically forfeited the upcoming season, getting rid of the biggest contract players on the roster while still having to pay an exorbitant amount of “dead money” this year.

With new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, owner Stephen Ross is hoping this is the start of a complete rebuild that will pay off in a couple of years. At 85 years old, Ross doesn’t really have much time for patience, and it’s starting to show up in some of his statements regarding the team.

That was the case this week, when Ross made a sly comment about his own franchise, patting himself on the back for the success the Miami Grand Prix has had while admitting that his NFL team isn’t performing.

Dolphins fans couldn’t help but be enraged by Ross’ comments. They simply feel that Ross only cares about making money; the success of the Dolphins isn’t high on his list of priorities.

Stephen Ross makes tons of money from Hard Rock Stadium and other ventures

That bears out when you consider how many major events Ross has helped bring to the Dolphins’ home ground, Hard Rock Stadium. Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix and the Miami Open are held there. The Super Bowl has been held there multiple times, as has the CFP National Championship. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will have matches played there.

Ross is raking in the cash whether the Dolphins win games or not, and it sounds like he wants everyone to know that.
