Miami Dolphins reveal their plan to get rid of their biggest problem: Tua Tagovailoa

The Miami Dolphins appear to be preparing for a significant quarterback shakeup as questions continue to surround the future of Tua Tagovailoa.

After multiple seasons that failed to deliver a deep playoff run, the organization is reportedly exploring ways to move forward without the former first round pick.

Tagovailoa‘s massive contract has become a central issue for Miami’s front office. The quarterback signed a lucrative long term extension that still has several years remaining, making any decision involving his future both financially and competitively delicate for the franchise.

According to the New York Post, the Dolphins have quietly developed a strategy aimed at distancing themselves from Tagovailoa without absorbing the worst possible salary cap consequences.

The report suggests Miami understands a clean break would be costly, which has pushed the team to evaluate more creative alternatives.

The situation intensified late last season when Tagovailoa was benched, a move that surprised many around the league.

That decision hinted at a growing lack of confidence from the coaching staff and raised further doubts about his standing within the organization.

Financial obstacles shape Miami’s options

Releasing Tagovailoa outright would leave the Dolphins facing an enormous dead money charge, especially if the move happens before June first.

As a result, a trade scenario is viewed internally as the most realistic path, even if it requires Miami to shoulder part of his remaining salary.

Any potential deal would likely depend on another team’s willingness to take on a sizable contract while betting on a fresh start for the quarterback. Miami may be forced to include incentives or absorb short term losses to make such a move feasible.

Other sources also indicate that Tagovailoa would not oppose a change of scenery, which could help ease negotiations if trade discussions advance.

With major decisions looming, the Dolphins‘ handling of their quarterback situation could define the direction of the franchise for years to come.
