As theNFL preseason draws to a close, teams are finalizing their 53-man rosters for the upcoming season. This process determines which players will make the cut and who has the potential to deliver strong performances. However, despite their hard work, some undrafted rookies may still face the difficult reality of being released.

This week is crucial for players fighting to secure their place in the NFL, as roster spots are limited. One such player is Shilo Sanders, son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who recently received guidance from Miami Dolphins’ Ethan Bonner regarding his prospects and preparation. Many eyes will be on him as teams make their final decisions.

How Ethan Bonner beat the odds as an undrafted NFL player

This will be a harsh week, as many players may lose their NFL spots and see their dreams of becoming successful professional athletes stall. Nevertheless, some undrafted free agents (UDFAs) still have a glimmer of hope, with guidance and support from mentors like Miami Dolphins’ Ethan Bonner.

Ethan Bonner was signed by the Miami Dolphins in 2023 as an undrafted free agent. Despite low expectations, his hard work and dedication earned him a spot on the roster. Over the past two seasons, Bonner has appeared in seven games and has made a noticeable impact, achieving his dream of playing in the NFL.

Ethan Bonner’s journey has become a true story of perseverance, one that many have tried to emulate, though not all have succeeded. For this reason, Bonner has become a distinguished voice on the subject and recently delivered a powerful message to undrafted players preparing for the upcoming NFL season.

The advice from the CB of the Miami Dolphins

Ethan Bonner spoke with Allison Koehler of PFSN, where he offered candid advice to undrafted free agents (UDFAs), warning them about the harsh realities of the NFL business. He emphasized that only through hard work, resilience, and the right mindset can these players hope to secure a spot and succeed in the league.

“Focus on giving your best effort, time and time again, and just being present in it,” Bonner began. He added, “At the end of the day, it is business, and it can be cutthroat, but there are a lot of guys who have been cut multiple times.” The Dolphins cornerback’s words serve as both advice and a warning to aspiring players navigating the NFL.

The Miami Dolphins are now preparing for the new season, which kicks off on September 7 against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. However, the bigger question isn’t just about the team’s performance; it’s how many undrafted players will earn a spot on the final 53-man roster this year.
