This Friday, August 29, Miami Dolphins outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow was arrested in Fort Lauderdale. According to available records, the 37-year-old assistant was taken into custody on charges of assault/domestic violence. At this point, no further details have been released regarding the incident or the police action that led to his arrest.

Crow had only joined the Dolphins last year, in 2024. In light of this troubling matter, the Miami Dolphins issued a formal statement addressing the situation.

We are aware of the serious matter involving Ryan Crow and are currently gathering more information. Ryan has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately. We have been in communication with the NFL and will reserve further comment at this time.

Details of the Dolphins coach’s case

Fort Lauderdale police reported receiving a call at 12:08 a.m. on Friday. Following their investigation at the scene, officers decided to arrest Ryan Crow.

The victim was not seriously injured and refused medical attention.

Police said.

The arrest adds turbulence for the Dolphins as they prepare for the opening week of the regular season. Their campaign begins Sunday, September 7, when they visit the Indianapolis Colts.

The first ten games for the Miami Dolphins

  • Week 1: at Indianapolis Colts (Sunday, Sept. 7) – Away
  • Week 2: vs New England Patriots (Sunday, Sept. 14) – Home
  • Week 3: at Buffalo Bills (Thursday, Sept. 18) – Away
  • Week 4: vs New York Jets (Monday, Sept. 29) – Home
  • Week 5: at Carolina Panthers (Sunday, Oct. 5) – Away
  • Week 6: vs Los Angeles Chargers (Sunday, Oct. 12) – Home
  • Week 7: at Cleveland Browns (Sunday, Oct. 19) – Away
  • Week 8: at Atlanta Falcons (Sunday, Oct. 26) – Away
  • Week 9: vs Baltimore Ravens (Thursday, Oct. 30) – Home
  • Week 10: vs Buffalo Bills (Sunday, Nov. 9) – Home

Head coach Mike McDaniel has faced two challenging years with the Dolphins, and the organization hopes this season marks a turnaround. With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa healthy and under center, expectations are that Miami can string together enough victories to return to playoff contention.

Still, the path will be far from easy. The AFC East remains one of the league’s most competitive divisions, with the Buffalo Bills widely seen as favorites. Buffalo is aiming to finally break through this year, return to the Super Bowl, and compete for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

For now, Miami has an opportunity to set the tone with a Week 1 victory. Their opponent, the Colts, presents a winnable matchup if the Dolphins execute with focus and efficiency. Should Indianapolis pull off an upset, it would be one of those results that upend early-season predictions and shake confidence in Miami’s campaign.
