The Argentina U20 team is unstoppable at the 2025 World Cup in Chile. After eliminating Mexico in the quarter-finals with a solid 2-0 win, the team coached by Diego Placente once again showed its class by beating Colombia 1-0 in the semi-finals

The only goal of the match was scored by Mateo Silvetti, who had already scored against Mexico and now repeats as a key figure in the Albiceleste’s path to the final. With this victory, Argentina is consolidated as the top candidate for the title and will seek its seventh world crown in the category.

Silvetti, the executioner of Mexico and Colombia

The Inter Miami striker was once again decisive as he scored the winning goal against Colombia, just as he did in the previous match against Mexico; his ability to appear at key moments makes him one of the most outstanding names in the tournament.

Argentina imposes its style

The Albiceleste dominated the match with possession, high pressing and solid defence that neutralised the Colombian attempts; goalkeeper Santino Barbi was key with timely interventions, while Gianluca Prestianni and Ian Subiabre generated constant danger in attack

Colombia could not repeat its feat

After eliminating Spain in the quarter-finals with a hat-trick from Neiser Villarreal, Colombia arrived with confidence, but came up against a well-organised Argentina side that allowed them neither space nor rhythm. The Colombian team bowed out with a worthy campaign, but without being able to overcome their South American rivals.

A perfect path for Argentina

With victories against Cuba, Australia, Italy, Nigeria, Mexico and now Colombia, Argentina reached the final with six consecutive wins, 15 goals for and only two against, reaffirming its status as a powerhouse in the U-20 category.

Morocco, the last obstacle

In the final, Argentina will face Morocco, who eliminated France in a dramatic penalty shootout. It will be an unprecedented duel at this stage, where the Albiceleste will be looking to lift their seventh youth world title, the first since Canada 2007.

A generation that excites

With players such as Silvetti, Prestianni, Subiabre and Barbi, the Argentine team has shown talent, character and cohesion; the work of Diego Placente has been key to consolidating a group that dreams of making history in Chile.
