Lionel Messi experienced a magical moment on Monday night at Los Angeles’ BMO Stadium, as he lifted the World Cup trophy again in an event organized by one of the brands sponsoring the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

During the ceremony, FIFA presented the Inter Miami striker with the original trophy won by Argentina in Qatar 2022, in a symbolic gesture that recalled the triumph of the Albiceleste at the Lusail Stadium, after defeating France in a thrilling match that was decided on penalties after a heart-stopping 3-3 in regular time plus extra time, reports Infobae.

“It’s a very special cup,” said the Argentine during the ceremony. “It’s very beautiful…” he added with a smile.

Several sports figures attended the event, including former Italian soccer player Alessandro Del Piero, German Jurgen Klinsmann, as well as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
