Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in MLS: The scenario that would change soccer in the United States

One of the greatest rivalries in soccer history is and always will be Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo, two of the best players in the history of soccer who have faced each other on countless occasions, where both have set a before and after in the sport.

Now, the geniuses are in the twilight of their careers, where each match brings them closer to the end of an era. Among rumors and dreams, a former Manchester United star has opened the door to a new journey: the possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave the Saudi Pro League and head to MLS, the same destination that Messi chose a couple of seasons ago

Cristiano Ronaldo to MLS? Former Manchester United star predicts it

Manchester United treble winner Teddy Sheringham has commented that the commander, Cristiano Ronaldo, could go after the American dream after his contract with Al-Nassr ends

Cristiano is undoubtedly an example of discipline and constant effort in the search to achieve the objectives that one sets out to achieve. At 40 years of age, he continues to be one of the best players in the world, with the current objective of winning the championship with his club and reaching the historic figure of 1,000 goals as a player.

In an interview with GOAL, the former player responded to the question of whether he believed Cristiano would continue playing soccer for several more years, something that Sheringham responded by saying that he could reach the 2030 World Cup if he sets his mind to it

I see it. It’s all about staying fit and healthy, staying away from injuries. He has a proper physique, he’s like a machine that takes care of itself on the football field. He’s playing in a league where it’s not going to be that hard for him week in, week out. I can see him playing for a few more years. I think he could make it to 44.

Messi and Cristiano, the last dance before retirement

In the same interview, Teddy Sheringham was asked about the possibility of the Portuguese returning to Europe or seeking a new challenge in North America where Messi and Cristiano fans would be more than eager to see these two legends together or see them in one last dance as rivals facing each other at the end of their careers.

I don’t think so (going back to Europe). I think I would do it in America, for sure. I could wait until I’m 44/45 before I go.

Teddy Sheringham

So far these are just the comments of the former Manchester United player and there is no word at the time of publication whether Cristiano has any intention of moving to MLS or even whether he will continue playing football after his contract with Al-Nassr expires.
