Megyn Kelly tears into Tiger Woods after bodycam footage sparks fresh controversy

The latest chapter in Tiger Woods‘ turbulent career has taken another unexpected turn, with newly released police bodycam footage from his recent DUI arrest drawing sharp public reaction and renewed scrutiny.

What might have been a routine post-incident release quickly became a talking point after one particular exchange surfaced.

In the footage, Woods tells officers he had just been on the phone with President Donald Trump, a moment that prompted a strong response from Megyn Kelly.

Speaking on her show, Kelly described the incident as a “douche move,” questioning both the timing and intent behind the call as Woods stood at the scene of the crash near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida.

The footage captures Woods in the immediate aftermath of a rollover accident, interacting with officers while appearing fatigued and at times disoriented. During the exchange, he references his achievements, discusses his physical condition, and casually mentions the call with the president.

“Yeah, I was just talking to the president,” Woods says in the clip, a line that has since been replayed widely and dissected across media platforms.

Kelly, offering her interpretation, suggested the call may have been an attempt to seek assistance in a difficult moment.

“We now know he called President Trump… as soon as he rolled the car and got out of it while the cops were there,” she said. “Which is a douche move… it’s very clear he called to try to get out of this somehow.”

It remains unclear who initiated the call, and no evidence has emerged to confirm its purpose. However, the optics alone have fueled broader conversations about accountability and the privileges afforded to high-profile figures.

Kelly also questioned how the situation was handled overall, arguing that it reflected a level of leniency not typically afforded to others.

“The whole thing has got privilege written all over it,” she said.

Woods steps back as pressure builds

The reaction comes at a time when Woods is once again confronting both physical and personal challenges. Authorities confirmed he tested negative for alcohol at the scene, though officers noted signs of impairment and discovered prescription medication in his possession.

Woods has pleaded not guilty to the charges and, in a statement released earlier this week, confirmed he would step away from the game to focus on his recovery.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods said. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”

The decision effectively sidelines any immediate return to competition, including lingering hopes of a comeback appearance at The Masters.

For Woods, the latest incident adds to a career defined by both unparalleled success and periods of personal adversity.

From multiple surgeries to previous legal issues, including a 2017 DUI arrest, the 15-time major winner has repeatedly navigated setbacks under intense public scrutiny.

This time, however, the conversation has quickly shifted beyond the incident itself. The bodycam footage, and the reaction it has generated, has placed the spotlight not just on Woods‘ actions but on how those moments are perceived in a broader cultural context.

As he begins another period of rehabilitation, questions remain about both his health and his legacy.

What comes next for Tiger Woods

In the immediate future, Woods‘ focus will be away from the course. His statement emphasized a commitment to recovery, both physically and personally, as he steps back from competition.

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place,” he said.

Whether that return comes, and in what form, remains uncertain. What is clear is that this latest episode has once again placed Woods at a crossroads, where the path forward will be shaped as much by his response as by the incident itself.
