Maxx Crosby‘s future with the Las Vegas Raiders remains uncertain as offseason speculation continues, and after a seven-year tenure, fans are eager to see where the 28-year-old defensive end will land.
The spotlight falls not only on the Raiders‘ No. 1 overall pick but also on Crosby‘s recovery, as his readiness to start 2026 healthy gives hope, while trade rumors continue to swirl around the edge rusher.
“Two weeks out, no crunches anymore,” Crosby said, via X.com, formerly Twitter. “We’re walking, we’re moving, shoutout to Drew, shoutout to Jocelyn, shoutout to Morgan, shoutout to Dr. Neil. We’re rolling and cooking. I’m still a shoot.”
In the video, Crosby wasn’t sprinting, yet he showed no limp or visible discomfort, signaling a positive recovery, and for Raider Nation, that alone offers reassurance despite the cloud over his future.
Crosby injured his left knee mid-October against the Kansas City Chiefs but played through pain for 15 games, demonstrating toughness, resilience, and the kind of durability that anchors a franchise defense.
With Las Vegas chasing the inside track to the No. 1 overall pick, the Raiders rested him for the final two games, prioritizing long-term health over short-term grit, even as fans craved him on the field.
Even limited, Crosby closed 2025 with 10.0 sacks, 73 tackles, and 28 tackles for loss, proving he remained disruptive, productive, and one of the league’s premier edge rushers, while maintaining his reputation as a defensive cornerstone.
In early January, Crosby underwent successful meniscus surgery and addressed fans on Instagram.
“Great Risk = Great Reward…,” Crosby wrote. “Got Work To Do. Reset & Reload… Year 8 Will Be The Greatest Year Yet.”
Could Maxx Crosby be traded?
Meanwhile, trade chatter is fueled by Crosby‘s prime age and desire to compete for a winning team, contrasting with the Raiders‘ rebuild, and naturally leading to questions about compensation if a deal occurs.
Las Vegas could absorb a $5.1 million dead-cap hit but free roughly $30.69 million in space while gaining potential draft picks, providing flexibility to rebuild quickly and rewarding Crosby with a competitive landing spot.
Potential suitors include the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Tennessee Titans, all of whom can offer immediate contention and leverage Crosby‘s elite pass-rushing skill to strengthen their defenses.
Rumors surged after the Raiders rested Crosby, frustrating him but preserving long-term health, and NFL Network‘s Tom Pelissero believes a deal could emerge in the next 7-10 days, depending on rehab and team negotiations.
“Is there a world where Maxx Crosby gets traded in the next 7 to 10 days? I believe there is,” Pelissero noted. “We’re not there yet, in terms of a deal actually getting done, but almost every player in the NFL has a price.
“I do believe that there is a possibility of Maxx Crosby being traded sometime between now and the start of the league year [March 11].”
