Max Muncy gives the Dodgers yet another reason to be World Series favorites

In the postseason, unexpected heroes often emerge, but that’s not the case with Max Muncy. Beyond the big names on the Los Angeles Dodgers like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, or Mookie Betts, the third baseman has delivered at his peak when it matters most in this phase, and his latest home run only underscores his consistent hitting prowess.

The glasses that changed everything

Muncy discovered he had astigmatism in his right eye, prompting him to try the glasses he now wears at all times. Since then, everything has transformed, though he was always a dangerous hitter at the plate.

Now, in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, he hit a home run that puts him alone atop the Dodgers franchise list for most postseason homers. The third baseman connected for his 14th homer with the team, surpassing the 13 held by Corey Seager and Justin Turner. It was Muncy’s first home run of this postseason, where he’s batting .273 with six hits and a .903 OPS.

He’s one of several players stepping up for Dave Roberts at a time when a bat like Shohei Ohtani’s was in a worrisome slump-one that ended in this very game, where the Dodgers extended their series lead to 2-0.

Muncy’s offensive production, alongside the other star names in the lineup, only makes these Dodgers more dangerous, having found tremendous consistency from their starting pitchers. Just look at Yoshinobu Yamamoto following Blake Snell’s dominance the day before: Yamamoto threw a complete nine innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, and striking out seven.

These Dodgers simply find ways to win, and that’s what it’s all about. After struggling all regular season against the Milwaukee Brewers, losing every matchup, they’re now winning when it counts most and are on track for a consecutive World Series appearance-because if they keep playing like this, no one will stop them.
