Max Christie has issues with Kyrie Irving in Dallas: Come back to LA, LeBron will get you right

Max Christie‘s transition from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks started with a bang, but his recent performances have raised questions. The former $32 million guard quickly made an impact in Dallas, averaging an impressive 17.1 points per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 47.2 percent from three in his first seven games.

However, the honeymoon phase was short-lived. In his last five outings, Christie‘s numbers have taken a significant dip-averaging just 9.2 points per game on 33.3 percent shooting from the field and 32.0 percent from beyond the arc.

A better fit at the Lakers

This inconsistency has sparked debate among fans, particularly those who believe he was better suited for his role alongside LeBron James and the Lakers.

Christie had a similar cold stretch earlier this season with the Lakers, but his game improved after being inserted into the starting lineup.

Surrounded by LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves, he thrived in a system where he could capitalize on defensive attention drawn by the Lakers’ stars.

In 25 starts for the Lakers, Christie averaged 10.6 points per game on 44.7 percent shooting, including 38.5 percent from deep.

The offensive structure in LA provided him with catch-and-shoot opportunities and more open looks, something that hasn’t translated as well in Dallas.

As Christie’s struggles continue, Lakers fans have taken to social media, voicing their belief that he was better off in Los Angeles. Some even suggested that the Mavericks should trade him back to the Lakers.

“Come back to LA. LeBron will get you right,” a fan wrote.

Another added: “He would’ve thrived next to Luka smh.”

While Christie’s production has dipped, it’s too early to determine if he will continue to struggle in Dallas or adjust to his new role. The Mavericks‘ system presents different challenges than what he was used to in LA, but with time, he could regain his confidence and find his rhythm.
