Up to this point, Mark Sanchez had done well for himself after a successful NFL playing career. Sanchez took his football knowledge to the broadcast booth, starting out with a role for ESPN‘s college football coverage and then becoming a color commentator for NFL games on Fox Sports. Before Week 5, that success came to a halt.

Stunning news broke that Sanchez had been stabbed in downtown Indianapolis, a day before he had to call the Indianapolis Colts vs. Las Vegas Raiders game. Thoughts and prayers poured in, and Sanchez ultimately came out okay. But in a shocking turn of events, Sanchez was arrested at the hospital and charged with battery, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and publix intoxication. The narrative surrounding the incident obviously shifted, with evidence suggesting Sanchez was the instigator.

The battery charge was later upgraded to a felony, in addition to the three misdemeanors, and Sanchez is being sued by the 69-year-old he allegedly harassed and attacked, Perry Tole. Tole claims he stabbed Sanchez due to the former NFL quarterback persistently threatening and coming at him.

Judge in Mark Sanchez criminal case recuses herself for unknown reason

On Tuesday, the now criminal case was thrown for a loop. According to the Indy Star, the judge who had been assigned to the case, Jennifer Prinz Harrison, recused herself and requested that a new felony court in the county take it. There was no reasoning given for wh Harrison recused herself.

The case will now be under the watchful eye of Marion County judge James Osborn. The first pretrial conference will take place on October 22, tentatively. The jury trial is expected to be in December.
