Mark Cuban has every reason to be unhappy with Mavs’ GM Nico Harrison’s decision to trade Luka Doncic, but getting angry with the fans who protest against it, is just a signal of frustration. Mark is known for his passionate involvement with the team, but the last months he has been apart from every team’s decision.

During his exchange with fans, Mark Cuban’s frustration was clear. The constant “FIRE NICO” chants and the barrage of yells from the crowd seemed to have reached his breaking point. It’s understandable that the constant negativity would take its mind, and this exchange suggests that Cuban’s patience with the situation, and perhaps with the fans’ reactions, are thin.

Reports circulating near the Mavericks’ suggest that Mark Cuban attempted to intervene and stop the Luka Doni trade, but his efforts were for none. Nico Harrison, the GM who had only taken the job a few months prior, had already signed the deal. This single move has quickly become one of the most dramatic and controversial transactions the NBA has seen in a long time, leaving many fans questioning Harrison’s judgment and the future of the Mavericks franchise.

A blockbuster three-team trade has reshaped the NBA in way of the championship. Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, while Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. The Lakers’ includes Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris, while the Mavericks landed Max Christie and a valuable 2029 first-round draft pick from the Lakers.

The Utah Jazz also got something, they receive Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2025 second-round pick from the LA Clippers, and a 2025 second-round pick from the Mavericks.

In 2023, Mark Cuban sold his majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks, a move that was officially approved by the NBA. The sale price reflected a franchise valuation of between $3.8 billion and $3.9 billion. While the Adelson/Dumont families took control with a 69% ownership stake, Cuban retained a 27% share and, importantly, operational oversight of the team. This arrangement allowed Cuban to remain involved with the Mavericks, despite no longer being the majority owner, suggesting his continued passion for the team and the sport.

After all, he was the one who placed Nico Harrison in the GM position, and now he’s witnessing the crash from a highly controversial trade, one he even tried to stop. Must be a difficult situation for Cuban.
