Major changes in the Dolphins’ QB lineup. Quinn Ewers threatens Tua

The Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns will face each other this Sunday, October 19, in a clash between two struggling teams. Both enter the game with a miserable 1-5 record. However, the Florida team just made a move that adds even more pressure on Tua Tagovailoa, as Quinn Ewers was promoted from the third spot on the depth chart to the second.

For the Dolphins, the last two games have been especially painful. They lost both in the final moments, leaving the locker room deflated. On top of that came controversy after Tua Tagovailoa publicly criticized several teammates. He later apologized, and the issue appeared resolved, a clean slate for Miami.

Movements in the Dolphins’ quarterback corps. Ewers moves up to second

Before the kickoff between the Browns and the Dolphins, Miami announced a change in the No. 2 quarterback position. Zach Wilson, who had been serving as the backup, was demoted, giving way to rookie Quinn Ewers, who now steps into that role.

The Dolphins are making a change to their QB depth chart for today’s game, as Quinn Ewers will serve as the backup to Tua Tagovailoa for their matchup against the Browns, per the insiders. This is the first game active for the rookie seventh-rounder.

Reported Ian Rapoport thtough his X account.

This position has seen constant movement, not so much because of Tua’s performance on the field, but rather because of what he has said after games, particularly following losses.

I’ve made a mistake and I’m owning up to that right now. I’ve talked to guys on the team about it, talked to the leaders about it, and they know my heart. They know that the intent was right. But no matter the intent… when things get misconstrued or however the media wants to portray it, that leaves a void of silence and a lot of questions for the guys on our team now being 1-5.

Tua’s frustration boiled over after the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, leading him to lash out at some teammates.

Now, he must worry even more, as someone is closing in quickly behind him, and a single misstep could send him to the bench.

I’ve got to look at myself as the leader protecting the team. I don’t feel like I did that to the best of my abilities. I felt like I let the emotions of the game get to me after the game. And that’s something that I can learn from as a leader on this team, and what happens in-house should be protected, and none of that should have gotten out.

Added the Miami signal-caller.

Sunday’s matchup could be either his launching pad or his downfall. In some cases, it depends on his own improvement; in others, on full cooperation from his teammates. What’s certain is that if the Dolphins lose again, not only will Tagovailoa’s position be in jeopardy, but so will Mike McDaniel’s.

The team has collapsed this season, and everyone shares the blame, only by staying united can they escape this disastrous stretch.
