International Women’s Day often sparks strong reactions, but few are as unexpected as that of Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic. His touching message to his daughters warmed hearts, yet left many fans puzzled about its relevance to the occasion.
Doncic is currently having the best season of his career. In a recent game against the Indiana Pacers, he scored 44 points, adding to his impressive averages:
- 32.5 points per game
- 47.5% field goal percentage
- 7.8 rebounds
- 8.5 assists
Thanks to his stellar play, the Lakers sit fifth in the Western Conference with a 39-25 record and strong playoff hopes.
Doncic’s answer that sparked confusion
To mark International Women’s Day, the Lakers asked players to name their favorite female athlete. Serena Williams was the most common answer.
Basketball players like Candace Parker were also popular. Others mentioned family members. LeBron James named his daughter, volleyball player Zhuri, while center Jaxson Hayes cited his mother and sister. Doncic, however, named his two daughters.
The response sounded sweet but raised eyebrows, as his eldest daughter, Gabriela, was born in 2023, and his youngest, Olivia, in December 2025.
Some fans speculated that Doncic misunderstood the question, while others saw it simply as a tender gesture from a proud father.
Questions about Doncic’s relationship
The video quickly spread across social media, fueling speculation not only about his response but also about his personal life.
Just months ago, Doncic proposed to longtime partner Anamaria Goltes. Yet recently, Goltes deleted the engagement photo-and all pictures with Doncic-from her Instagram account.
This has led fans to believe the couple may have separated or be facing difficulties. Neither Doncic nor Goltes has commented publicly, leaving the rumor mill spinning.
