“Luka Doncic will not return to his prime, those who are closest to him know it”, an ESPN analyst makes a shocking revelation

Pundits have already begun to debate who is to blame for the Los Angeles Lakers ‘ disappointing season. It seems that those close to the team have identified the main problem and want to address it quickly so that it does not come back to haunt them in the next NBA championship.

With their elimination now a certainty, the Lakers want to prepare themselves as best they canphysically, as they feel they have fallen short in that area. Coach JJ Redick has said that they want to be in shape for next season as soon as possible, thinking about the future and looking for a better year.

Some interpreted this message as a shot at Luka Doncic, as he did not look in good shape in his games with the Lakers.

Although it seemed like a criticism of Doncic, JJ Redick is right: the Lakers and Luka ran out of steam at the end and made key mistakes against a more intense and accurate Timberwolves team. Physical fatigue was a significant factor and made the difference in a series that was decided in a decisive manner.

Luka Doncic will not return to his best physical form

On First Take, the debate over Luka Doncic‘s commitment was reignited, with some suggesting that even within the Mavericks, there are those who are not convinced that he is the definitive piece to take the team to the next level.

“The Mavericks knew him better than anyone in the NBA, and they didn’t think so. JJ Redick is getting to know him, the Lakers are getting to know him, the Mavericks decided the answer was no,” said Brian Windhorst about the Slovenian’s lack of commitment.

But that’s not all, as the ESPN analyst also pointed out that even people close to Luka Doncic doubted he could do it.

Taking Luka Doncic out of the equation, it doesn’t seem like he was solely responsible for the tough loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

While conditioning may not have prevented Doncic‘s upset stomach or back injury, having a full team from the start is key. A fit roster can mean the difference between crashing and burning and sweeping the season, and it will be a great lesson for the Lakers to take into account next season.

For his part, let’s hope that Luka silences his critics and proves that he can be at his physical best, because Los Angeles will need him to be.
