Luka Doncic shows off his two million euro car… and has his first problem

Luka Doncic has celebrated in style his stratospheric renewal with the Los Angeles Lakers (with a spectacular three-year contract with the purple and gold) and, as a good car lover, he has bought a really impressive one.

This is the Rimac Nevera, an electric hypercar of Croatian origin (which MARCA had the opportunity to test) with almost 2,000 horsepower and a price to match (two million euros) which, of course, is no problem for the solvent bank account of the Lakers’ No. 77 formed at Real Madrid. It is a very exclusive model, as there are only 150 in the world… and one is already owned by Luka Doncic.

Doncic knows that he has in his hands one of the sports cars with the best performance of the moment. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 1.74 seconds, 200 km/h in 4.42 seconds and 300 km/h in 9.22 seconds. But the most impressive thing is its top speed: no less than 412 km/h.

Numbers that the NBA star would sign, a sports car fanatic who has been seen behind the wheel of such peculiar machines as the Apocalypse Hellfire 6×6, a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, a Koenigsegg Regera or the Brabus Rocket 1000. Although, curiously, his first car was a Zastava 750, the equivalent of a 600 in Spain.

But it is not in vain, the R version of the Nevera (boosted to 2,104 hp) has just set a world record. It has become the production car that takes the shortest time to complete the demanding 0-400-0 test: starting from a standstill, reaching 400 km/h and coming to a stop again… in just 26 seconds (the previous record was, precisely, the version of Doncic). In addition, it is the fastest electric car (reaches 431.6 km/h)… and also the fastest… in reverse! (275 km/h).

Trapped in the parking lot

The Slovenian shooting guard is currently with his national team to play in the Eurobasket in Latvia, Cyprus, Finland and Poland, which kicks off at the end of August. Needless to say, he is the star of the team and his presence alone will make his Balkan team one of the favorites for victory.

However, the last game against Germany did not go well for Doncic… either on or off the court.first warm-up game

Luka Doncic’s mood would not improve as he made his way to the arena parking lot to get into his brand new Rimac Nevera. The electric hypercar was blocked by a Maybach that had parked dangerously close to the Slovenian’s car

So much so that the gullwing doors could not open for the player to get inside and leave the facility, so he had to pull out his mobile phone to locate the owner (possibly a national team-mate) and be able to go home. It is not exactly the best way to start to assimilate a defeat.
