They might not want to admit it, but Los Angeles Lakers are truly blessed. The amount of legendary players that have passed through the franchise is incredible. Even when the team is in somewhat of a rut, they get a gift from above in the form of Luka Doncic.
To start the 2025-26 season, without LeBron James on the court, Doncic has been a godsend – as has Austin Reaves. The new face of the franchise, Doncic is averaging 35 points per game and has fully embraced life in Los Angeles. While he thrives, the general manager who put him in that position, Nico Harrison, has been fired by the Dallas Mavericks.
Luka Doncic sends a special message to Dallas Mavericks fans
Naturally, Doncic was asked his thoughts on Harrison being fired. Doncic decided not to directly name Harrison, but he did say very nice things about the city of Dallas and Mavericks fans in general.
Just, the city of Dallas, the fans, the players, they’ll always have a special place in my heart. I thought I was going to stay there forever, but I didn’t. So, that will always be a special place for me. I will always call it home. But right now, I’m focused on the Lakers and trying to move on. But, obviously, always there will be a part of me there.
It’s clear that Dallas meant a ton to Doncic. It’s been apparent since the day the trade was made that he never wanted to leave the city. He felt at home there, and it seems like he wanted to be a Mavericks player for his entire career.
Harrison put an end to that in truly stunning fashion. Less than a year after making that bold decision, he’s out of a job and Doncic is thriving in Los Angeles. Whether Doncic stays there until he retires remains to be seen.
