Like a kid ready to show off a brand-new toy, Luka Doncic seemed all set to take his latest ride for a spin – and maybe slip away from the paparazzi while he was at it. After inking a massive contract with the Lakers, the Slovenian star might have wanted to celebrate with a flashy debut of his new $2 million hypercar. But the debut didn’t go as planned.
When supercars meet super tight spaces
Instead of roaring off in style, Luka found himself standing beside the world’s fastest EV, completely unable to get in. Another car had parked so close to his driver’s side door – the kind that opens upward – that there was simply no way to squeeze through. Cameras caught the 26-year-old’s mix of patience and disbelief as he took a deep breath and waved politely at the paparazzi circling the scene.
The irony? The Rimac Nevera is no ordinary ride. It’s billed as the fastest electric vehicle in the world, blasting from 0-60 mph in just 1.74 seconds and topping out at a mind-bending 258 mph. With four independent electric motors producing 1,914 horsepower, it’s a mechanical unicorn – only 150 exist worldwide.
Still, social media wasted no time poking fun at the moment. Some viewers even suggested the problem was self-inflicted, claiming the other car was perfectly parked between the lines. Whether or not that’s true, the viral clip proved one thing – even multimillionaire athletes have to deal with the kind of everyday headaches that make the rest of us groan.
From dream garage to parking drama
For Luka, a known car fanatic, the Nevera is just the latest jewel in a stacked garage. He’s reportedly already got a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, a Ferrari 812 Superfast, multiple Porsches, and even a Brabus Rocket 1000. Before this electric beast, his collection counted 13 cars – making the Nevera at least lucky number 14.
What could have been a slick, cinematic moment – Luka peeling away in a flash of electric speed – turned into a comical scene of him leaning on his car, waiting for help. Fans loved it, partly because it made him feel a little more human and sort of down to earth in a hilarius way.
