Luka Doncic addresses MVP talk during his incredible run with the Lakers

After another strong performance in the Los Angeles Lakers win over the Cleveland Cavaliers a 127-113 victory in which Luka Doncic recorded 42 points, five rebounds, and 12 assists and given how consistent he has been during this unstoppable run game after game, it was expected that he would face a key question right after the game.

The streak has been consistent, relentless, and worthy of recognition. Despite not being in the best personal situation or mood, Luka continues to put up numbers that place him firmly in the MVP conversation and that’s where the question came.

He was asked whether he would make his case for MVP, and he addressed it with honesty.

I never did that… I’m not the one voting. I think I’ve been playing pretty good. We’ve been winning, so that’s it.

The numbers are loud. His message is simple

He understands that there’s nothing to campaign or argue and certainly nothing to prove with words. It’s something that can only be shown and earned on the court, through performance game after game.

Over his last 13 games, he’s averaging 40 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, with just one loss in that span. It’s the kind of unstoppable stretch that naturally puts any player at the center of the MVP conversation. But in the end, many factors come into play and the human side matters too.

That doesn’t mean he isn’t interested in winning MVP. On the contrary, he shows it through his production and the Lakers’ wins. But he stays focused on his role and lets those who vote do their job.

As the regular season winds down, what happens on the court becomes crucial in defining the MVP race. Still, what happens off the court also matters because any controversy or negative moment can influence perception, and no one should win MVP unless they truly deserve it, both as a player and as a person.

Luka knows he’s in the race, and that every game is the perfect stage to strengthen his case as long as he helps his team win and build momentum heading into the playoffs. Because when you claim to be the best, the argument loses meaning. You simply do what you have to do, while others make the decision.
