The final of the Leagues Cup 2025 had practically all the ingredients to be remembered. For better or worse, the duel between Inter Miami and Seattle Sounders will remain in the memory of the fans and not only for sporting reasons. The match was favorable for the Washington team, who won by three goals to nil, however, after the match unfortunate events occurred.

The final was quite heated despite the lopsided result. Seattle Sounders were deserved winners, but Inter Miami were sore losers. After the final whistle, there was a big fight between Mascherano’s players and the opposing team’s staff and it was the big European soccer stars who took center stage in a negative way.

Busquets, Suarez and company…

When the final whistle blew, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez, Maximiliano Falcon and Tomas Aviles began to fight with players and staff members of the Seattle Sounders, showing an embarrassing scene for the experience they have in soccer.

The confrontation was started by Sergio Busquets, a player who is not usually involved in this type of conflict, but the worst came with Luis Suarez, who has a long history of controversies in his career and was seen spitting at a member of the opposing team’s staff, an image that went viral on social networks.

Possible sanctions

According to the competition’s regulations, starting a fight can cost between one and six matches, so Sergio Busquets would fall into this option and is likely to receive a harsh sanction.

Luis Suarez also has a complicated situation, but a little less so. His spitting is considered unsportsmanlike conduct and could cost him between one and three matches, that is if the referee did not see more conflictive acts and adds them in his final report.

The Leagues Cup came to an end and Seattle Sounders is the deserved champion, however, it will be remembered that players with a first-class career did not know how to lose and got into great conflicts that tarnish the competition.
