Los Angeles Lakers are surprised by Bronny James’ decision

The NBA preseason has begun, with the Los Angeles Lakers heading into the Summer League with the California Classic games, but Bronny James was not on the court. LeBron James’ son attended the game against the Golden State Warriors, but was dressed in street clothes. The starting lineup included Dalton Knecht, Cole Swider, Trey Jemison III, DaJuan Gordon and DJ Steward.

It should be remembered that James also spent a lot of time in the G League. He averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals in his 18 games.

Some fans were upset not to see Bronny in the lineup and questioned the decision. “It’s amazing that Bronny James is not in Summer League as if he scored 20 points per game last season,” one fan said. But there are those who question his absence because of a possible departure from the California team.

James comes into the new season with a year of experience. He played in 27 games last season, one as a starter. He averaged 2.3 points per game, shooting 31.3% from the field and 28.1% from three-point range.

What are the upcoming games for LA Lakers?

The Lakers will play three “California Classic” games before traveling to Las Vegas for the NBA “Summer League”. The Los Angeles Lakers begin their season in Las Vegas against the Dallas Mavericks and their first overall pick, Cooper Flagg. James is hoping to make a bigger impact with the Lakers this season. After trying his luck in the NBA last year, he has spent the preseason focused on his development and taking the next step in his game.

“Last year, coming in and producing from the start was a very difficult experience, even with nerves. So I feel like this year I’ll be able to go out and play with freedom and know what I’m going to do for myself and my teammates. So, yes, I’m very excited to be able to play without nerves,”Bronny said, according to the Los Angeles Times

Knecht was a first-round pick by the Lakers a year ago and averaged 19.2 minutes per game as a rookie. He averaged 9.1 points and shot 37.6% from three-point range.“It’s definitely more excitement than nervousness, for sure. I’m ready to get out there and play and be better than last time. I just have that mentality of being ready to play and whatever they put me in, no matter the role, what I have to do on defense, offense, everything. Be a good teammate for my new summer league team, things like that.”

It was a hectic year for Knecht, who was briefly traded in a deal with Mark Williams, a deal that was eventually voided after Williams failed his physical. The situation did not faze Knecht, who has remained focused on his development. “Right after the loss, I started pretty much right away. I didn’t take much time off and all of a sudden I’m told I’m going to play for the Lakers. I’ll take it as a sign of success to be champions once again.”
