It’s hard to imagine anyone predicting a different outcome during the Cy Young Award ceremony, and everything became clear once the votes were cast-unanimously awarding Paul Skenes, pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the prize.
And this was cause for celebration-because just one year after winning Rookie of the Year, he has now claimed the highest honor for an MLB pitcher at only 23 years old. The future couldn’t look brighter.
And there to celebrate with him was Olivia “Livvy” Dunne, who apparently organized a private party with several details that didn’t go unnoticed.

It was Livvy Dunne herself who shared all the details of the celebration on social media, where even one of the main dishes was an authentic hot dog-because what’s more representative of baseball than that?
There was also a large cake decorated with images of Paul Skenes, surrounded by cookies in the colors of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
But without a doubt, the highlight was when they recorded the family’s reaction the moment Skenes’ name was announced as the National League Cy Young winner.
It seemed hard to see anyone truly surprised that Paul Skenes won the award, but his girlfriend Livvy Dunne playfully pretended to be shocked, as shown in the video shared by MLB on its official channels. A little drama never hurts in moments like these.
Though the Pirates are unlikely to win anything major soon, Paul Skenes took home the most important prize he could achieve this season-after finishing with a 10-10 record in 32 starts, posting a 1.97 ERA over 187.2 innings, with 216 strikeouts and just 42 walks, a .199 opponent batting average, a 0.95 WHIP, plus a 10.36 K/9, 2.01 BB/9, and 5.14 K/BB ratio.
In the American League, the big winner was Tarik Skubal, who claimed the award for the second consecutive year-proving that these two are the most dominant pitchers in all of Major League Baseball.
