Leo Messi leaves the World Cup and Argentina shaking: “The most logical thing is that I don’t make it”

Lionel Messi has worried Argentina with his statements after scoring two goals with the Albiceleste in their 3-0 win over Venezuela at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires in the South American qualifiers.

I’m trying to feel good and be honest with myself. When I feel good, I enjoy myself. If I’m not well, I have a bad time and I prefer not to be there. I’m going to take it day by day

Leo Messi

“There are many emotions, I knew it was the last game here for points, I lived many things on this field, good and not so good, but it is always a joy to play with our people, especially after winning. It’s been several years that we enjoy game after game. Happy,” said Messi, who was moved and cried in the pre-match that could mean his last official home game with Argentina, to the press.

Obviously I’m not ready to leave the jersey, it’s not something I like, that I want, but time goes by, I depend a lot on that

Messi: “For many years many things were said, but I keep all the good things”

“It’s best to be able to finish this way here. For many years I had the love in Barcelona, and my dream was to have it in my country, with my people. For many years many things were said, but I stay with all the good, what I lived is very strong, beautiful,” Messi said.

Messi: “I said it after the last World Cup: because of my age (38), the most logical thing is that I won’t make it”

Regarding the possibility of being with the Argentina national team at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, he recalled that “I said it after the last World Cup: because of my age, the most logical thing is that I will not make it. I’m excited, I’m looking forward to it, but it’s day by day, game by game”.

Nine months goes by very quickly, but it’s also a lot

Leo Messi

“We had a string of games this year. I was out for a few days and came back, I relapsed. Now I was able to play three games in a row. It’s day by day, feeling sensations. I’m trying to feel good and be honest with myself. When I feel good, I enjoy it. If I’m not well, I have a bad time and I prefer not to be there. I’m going to go day by day,” said the former Barcelona player, who confirmed that he will not travel to Ecuador to play with Argentina in order to rest.

Messi, who is 38 years old, made it clear that “nine months goes by very quickly, but it’s also a lot. We finish the season at the end of the year, I have to do the preseason well, hopefully we can be champions in MLS. Obviously I’m not ready to leave the jersey, it’s not something I like, that I want, but time goes by, I depend a lot on that.”
