Legendary Rafael Nadal reveals Carlos Alcaraz’s biggest weakness against Jannik Sinner

The rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, nicknamed “Sincaraz” by fans, has become the main attraction in men’s tennis today. Their clash of styles, the intensity of their play, and the youthful energy they both radiate have turned every match into a must-watch spectacle. With the 2025 US Open entering its final stretch, all signs point to the possibility of a third consecutive Grand Slam final between these two giants-a showdown that could shape the immediate future of the sport.

In this context, Rafael Nadal, a legend of Spanish tennis, recently analyzed Alcaraz’s game and offered a clear diagnosis: the same magic that sets him apart is also his most vulnerable point when facing Sinner’s ironclad consistency.

Nadal highlights the magic in Alcaraz’s game

In statements collected by The Tennis Letter, Nadal praised his compatriot’s unique talent: “Carlos is more magical, he’s more unpredictable, he can play at a level that sometimes Jannik can’t.” That ability to invent impossible shots and surprise from any corner of the court is, according to the 22-time Grand Slam champion, what makes Alcaraz such a special and exciting player to watch.

However, Nadal warned that this unpredictability is also a double-edged sword. “At the same time, he’s also making more mistakes. He can play better, but also worse. It’s about finding the balance,” he explained. For the Mallorcan, Alcaraz’s biggest challenge is not just maintaining his aggressiveness, but learning to manage key moments, avoiding the constant search for spectacular shots. “Sometimes it seems like he plays every point as if it were decisive, and he doesn’t always need that,” Nadal added.

Nadal’s analysis doesn’t aim to diminish Alcaraz’s talent, but rather to emphasize that greatness in tennis is achieved by combining magic with maturity, power with tactical precision. In other words, the Spaniard has the potential to dominate for years, but he must refine his decision-making against opponents as consistent as Sinner.

Alcaraz on a roll: unstoppable at the 2025 US Open

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz is having a flawless tournament. The Murcian reached the semifinals of the 2025 US Open without dropping a single set, defeating Reilly Opelka, Mattia Bellucci, Luciano Darderi, and Arthur Rinderknech with authority. In the quarterfinals, he reaffirmed his dominance with a clear victory over Jiri Lehecka: 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

Alcaraz now boasts 11 consecutive wins, backed by his title in Cincinnati, and is preparing for a high-stakes showdown: the semifinal against Novak Djokovic. The world number one is seeking revenge after losing to the Serbian at the Australian Open, and he’s not hiding his motivation: “I really want revenge, that’s obvious,” he declared.

With this scenario, the tennis world braces for a thrilling tournament finale, where Alcaraz must prove whether he has already found the balance Nadal considers key to cementing his greatness.
