Legend Aaron Rodgers jokes he pulled “a Joe Biden” during Steelers preseason game

Aaron Rodgers is still settling into his new NFL home, and he’s doing it with his trademark sense of humor. In what is likely his third and final stop as a professional, the 41-year-old veteran quarterback signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the offseason, making it clear this will be his definitive farewell from the gridiron.

After spending 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and a brief two-year stint with the New York Jets-where he never quite found his footing-Rodgers now begins his 21st NFL season. The challenge: starting over, meeting new faces, and getting familiar with his surroundings.

During the recent preseason matchup between the Steelers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, a reporter noticed Rodgers seemed to be wandering aimlessly along the sideline. When asked about it, Rodgers himself explained his peculiar behavior.

“I was doing the Joe Biden”

“With 21 years in the league, I was thinking: who do I know in Jacksonville? I know Heath Farwell, special teams coach-I played against him. I know Chad Morton, he was with us. I’ve met Trevor [Lawrence] a couple of times,”he told ESPN.

That’s when he dropped the line that sparked laughter: “I was looking around, doing the Joe Biden, like saying: I guess I don’t know anyone here, so I’m just gonna leave. Then I found Cam [Heyward] and T.J. [Watt] and stood next to them.”

The Joe Biden reference

The joke alludes to multiple videos of former President Joe Biden appearing to wander, stumble, or freeze during public events-especially in recent years-a situation that has fueled intense political debate in the United States.

It’s not the first time Rodgers has mentioned the former president in a humorous tone. Back in 2024, after the unusual golf clash between Biden and Donald Trump during their first presidential debate, the quarterback threw another jab. “This is a guy who couldn’t even get off the stage. Couldn’t even get off the stage,” he said at the time.

Rodgers has a new goal

Beyond the jokes, Rodgers faces this year as his final chapter in the NFL, with the challenge of making a mark in Pittsburgh and adding one more ring before saying goodbye.

With his experience, leadership, and media charisma, the veteran promises to keep making headlines both on and off the field.
