What a surprise the past of the NBA gives us. Whenever there is talk of a debate among the greatest in basketball, the names of very top players appear who can undoubtedly have that label.
In the case of LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal and Junior Bridgeman… You will be surprised to read about the latter.
And it’s true, his skills were not out of this world, as he does not eat at the table of the greatest in the history of the NBA. The former Milwaukee player can boast of something else, his enormous net worth.
This huge fortune is said to be more than 600 million dollars, an absolute madness, as he bought 10% of the Bucks and became the face of the NBA franchise.
LeBron dreams of similar thing
LA Lakers player LeBron is really jealous of Junior because it is something he longs for in the future. After his last loss to the Sixers, he was asked about his opinion of Bridgeman and he answered very clearly:
“He didn’t waste time just thinking about basketball. You know, he used basketball to get to better places,” LeBron told the reporter.
And the fact is, Junior made barely $2 million as a player, and then he built a financial empire and started investing intelligently in several fast food restaurants across the country, he was ahead of his time.
What fast food restaurant are we talking about? That’s right, Wendy‘s. But he didn’t stop there; he also invested in the Coca-Cola Company and other businesses.
“He always had an entrepreneurial mindset, and obviously you know he loved the game because he got to that point. But then he took all the resources, the opportunities, the connections that he made along the way and used them to his advantage and built an incredible portfolio.” LeBron James praising Junior Bridgeman.
And the fact is, he is a shining example for the generations starting their sports careers, not just in the NBA, but for all athletes who are starting to fill their wallets and start businesses.
Adam Silver’s plans could hinder LeBron’s future
By the way, LeBron wants to have an NBA team in Las Vegas as part of his retirement plan, with financial support from Red Bull. Adam Silver mentioned that expansion could be around the corner, but his interest in expanding the league to Europe could complicate LeBron’s dream.
Silver has talked about professionalizing basketball in Europe, which could delay or affect the Las Vegas plans, though nothing is definite yet.
