LeBron James surpassed himself and reached 51,000 points in the NBA in Lakers-Raptors game

The Los Angeles Lakers won 110-93 against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, but it was LeBron James who stole the show.

In 2025, The Akron Hammer had surpassed 50,000 total points. Now, he scored 24 points in the game, surpassing his own record and reaching 51,000 points in his entire career (regular season and playoffs).

LeBron makes history, again

This new milestone in LBJ’s career is a great achievement that further solidifies his legacy as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, a feat he accomplished in the regular season in February 2023.

With 51,016 points and counting, James became the first player in the league to surpass this number. He is followed in second place by four-time champion Abdul-Jabbar with 44,149 points, a difference of almost 7,000 points. Karl Malone ranks third with over 41,000.

Meanwhile, the active players closest to LeBron are Kevin Durant in sixth place, James Harden in eleventh place, and Stephen Curry in fifteenth place.

Against Toronto, LeBron was not going to be part of the roster, but he ended up playing 32 minutes, scoring 24 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds, helping the team break a two-game losing streak. Luka Doncic and Deandre Ayton added another 25 points each.

In the 24 games James has played this season, he has averaged 22.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. However, since the start of 2026, LBJ has averaged 26.9 points, 8 rebounds, and 7.6 assists. And all this at 41 years old.

Playing his 23rd season in the NBA, James is unsure if he will retire soon, but what is clear is that he and his teammates are still in the fight for the playoffs in the Western Conference, sitting in sixth place with a 25-16 record. Securing a fifth title is probably LeBron’s goal before saying goodbye to the NBA.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are preparing to face the Denver Nuggets on the road this Tuesday, January 20, at Ball Arena.
